HEALTH NEWS: Dangote builds 1000 bed-capacity Hospital in Kano state

Worried by the condition of the health sector in the country, the Dangote Foundation, on Tuesday, at a foundation stone-laying ceremony began the construction of what had been described as one of Africa' most ambitious health facilities located in Kano State. The health facilities will see Dangote Foundation coughing out N2billion for the project.



This is coming as President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said he was planning to build the world's best hospital in Kano State.



He said his plan to build world's best hospital would stop the medical tourism that had cost Nigeria billions of naira.



The medical facilities have been named Mariya Sanusi Dantata Ultramodern Theatre Complex and a diagnostic laboratory which are situated within the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.



Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, Chairman of the Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Dangote said the gesture was meant to support government's efforts in achieving a sound health programme for its people, adding that it was only a healthy people that could contribute meaningfully to the growth of the economy.



"It is not just about creating a modern medical facility in this great city of ours. It is about our commitment to systematically improving the health and well-being which is one of our areas of focus. We believe that every Nigerian has a right to quality healthcare. We also believe that it is our collective duty to rally our resources to improve health infrastructure, support the development of health care professionals and improve preventive health measures in Nigeria," he said.



Dangote said the gesture was meant to

support government's efforts in achieving a sound health programme for its people, adding that only healthy people can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the economy.
